Differing from P. acuelatum by its longer petiole, more erect habit with more numerous fronds , longer first pinna-pair and especially in the more fully and deeply cut pinnae; innermost pinnules sometlimes stipitate. Distinguished from P. setiferum by its stiffer, more coriaceous and glossier, darker green fronds, narrower in outline and more strongly tapering towards base; shorter petiole; and more coarsely cut, more obliquely inserted pinnules.
