Glabrous or sparingly pilose somewhat glaucous perennial. Stems numerous, to 25 cm, slender, flexuous, erect-ascending, ± simple, arising from a woody stock. Cauline leaves shortly petiolate, elliptic-oblanceolate to lanceolate, 10-20 x 3-6 mm, obtuse or subacute, subentire or minutely purple-serrulate, pellucid-punctate. Ray-leaves sessile, lanceolate. Raylet leaves elliptic or elliptic-ovate, 5-10 x 2-6 mm, subacute, subentire, green. Rays 5, not or only once, rarely twice, dichotomous, short, rarely exceeding 2 cm; axillary rays 0. Fruit trilobate, 4-5 mm diam., covered with reddish-purple conical, cylindrical or filiform processes. Seeds ovoid, 2.3 mm, smooth, pinkish-brown. Fl. 4-6. Pinus brutia forest on serpentine, macchie, limestone cliffs, 50-1600 m.
