Robust, minutely pruinose-papillose, intensely glaucous ascending perennial with several simple densely leafy stems to 60 cm arising from a woodystock. Cauline leaves lanceolate, 2-7 x 0.5-1.7 cm, acutely acuminate, entire, thick and fleshy. Ray-leaves ovate-lanceolate, ovate or obovate. Raylet-leaves suborbicular, reniform or ovate-deltoid, 7-20 x 7-23 mm, mucronate, cuneate to shallowly cordate. Rays 7-16, not or once dichotomous; axillary rays 0. Glands 2-horned, horns clavate or lobate. Cyathial lobes suborbicular. Fruit ovoid-conical, trigonous, 6-7 mm diam., sparsely papillose. Seeds ovoid-cylindrical, 3.5-4 mm, ± smooth, pale grey or white, with a small terminal caruncle. Fl. 3-8. Open Pinus brutia forest, Quercus coccifera macchie, phrygana, limestone slopes, grazed steppe, fallow fields, etc., nr s.l.-2000 m.
