Similar to E. platyphyllos, but more slender; all leaves smaller; fruit more deeply 3-lobed and densely cylindrical-tuberculate; seeds ellipsoid, 1.2-1.5 mm, reddish-brown. Fl. 4-8. In Abies, Picea, Pinus, Fagus and Quercus forests, amongst rocks on limestone and sandstone, grassy slopes, streamsides, fallow fields and roadsides, s.l.-2100 m.
