Dwarf, scapose, perennial herb, with a branched, woody caudex. Leaves 3-6 mm; leaflets 4-6 mm, linear-elliptic, spreading or adpressed bifurcate-pilose, 6-8-paired; stipules c.2 mm, broadly ovate-lanceolate, membranous, free from the petioles. Peduncles 2-8 cm. Inflorescence 1-1,5 cm diam., a dense, globose, 6-20-flowered spike, becoming oblong in fruit. Bracts 1-2 mm, lanceolate. Calyx 4-7 mm, tubular, adpressed black and white bifurcate-pilose; teeth c.2 mm, linear. Corolla white to pale lilac; standard 9-12 mm. Legume c. 6 x 4 mm, ovoid, shortly black and white simple and bifurcate strigillose; beak c. 1 mm, curved. Fl. 6-7. Alpine meadows, sandstone slopes, etc., 2150-2900 m.
