Erect, caulescent, perennial herb, 20-35 cm, with a branched woody caudex; stems 15-30 cm. Leaves 3-6 cm; leaflets 10-20 mm, narrowly elliptic to linear, sparsely adpressed bifurcate-pilose, 4-5-paired; stipules c. 3 mm, narrowly Ianceolate. Peduncles 5-8 cm. Inflorescence c. 2 cm diam., a dense, globose, 10-15-flowered spike, elongating in fruit. Bracts c. 2 mm, linear. Calyx 5-8 mm, black and white, adpressed bifurcate-hairy; teeth 1-2 mm, linear. Corolla purple; standard 16-22 mm. glabrous. Legume 8-10 xc. 2.5 mm, oblong, erecto-patent, adpressed white bifurcate-hairy; beak c. 2 mm, curved. Fl. 5-7.
