Erect or scrambling annual, patently pilose, 17-70 cm. Stems winged. Leaves ending in 3-sect or pinnately branched tendrils; leaflets elliptic, 20-60 x 7-22 mm; stipules lanceolate-subulate, shortly semi-sagittate. Peduncles 1-2-flowered, usually aristate, at least as long as the leaflets. Calyx 9-11 mm; teeth subequal, ovate-lanceolate acuminate, 1½-2 x as long as tube, ± patent. Corolla bright yellow or sulphur, 15-24 mm; standard entire, pubescent on back. Legume linear-oblong, 43-50 x 6-9 mm, tuberculate-pilose; style 7 x 0.4 mm, twisted. Seeds 5-9, papillose. Fl. 6-7. Banks and scrub by streams, igneous slopes, wheat fields, 600-1800 m.
N. Iraq, Iran, Soviet Armenia. Ir.-Tur. element. This large-flowered species, as well as L. chrysanthus and L. trachycarpus, would make handsome garden plants.
