Tall, erect, glabrous perennial. Stems wingless, at least 70 cm tall. Lower leaves with 1 pair of leaflets. Median leaves subdigitate, aristate; leaflets 2-paired, linear to narrowly lanceolate-linear, 80-150 x 3-9 mm, 5-parallel-veined; stipules lanceolate-subulate, longer than the 4-8 mm petiole. Peduncles long, 25-28 cm, laxly 5-13-flowered, raceme up to 16 cm; pedicels 6-10 mm. Flowers larger, 25-30 mm, purple. Calyx 8-9 mm; teeth subequal, broad, the lowest ovate-acuminate, as long as the tube to 2/3 as long. Style obovate-spathulate, 7 x 3 mm. Legume not seen. Fl. 5.
