Villous annual, 15-50 cm. Leaflets 25-35 x 6-9 mm, oblong-obovate, mucronate, hairy on the upper and lower surfaces. Racemes 8-15 cm; flowers irregularly whorled. Peduncles 6-15 mm. Calyx with upper lip bipartite and lower lip shallowly tridentate or entire. Corolla 13-22 mm, blue, the standard with a whitish blotch. Legume 35-60 x 8-20 mm, 2-4-seeded, hirsute, reddish-brown. Seeds 7-9 mm, tuberculate, variegated. Fl. 3-5. Light sandy soils, in fields and macchie, s.I.-500 m; sometimes cultivated.
S. Europe, W. Syria. Medit. element. Cultivated nr. Antalya . The indumentum in this species varies from silky white to tawny; the Turkish material is ± intermediate in this respect.
