Perennial with erect-ascending stems up to 50 cm, and a dense velutinous-tomentose indumentum. Leaves with 4-7 pairs of oblong-ovate leaflets from 2-5 cm long, velutinous below, glabrous or sparsely pilose above; stipules free, 5-8 mm. Peduncles longer than leaves. Inflorescence many-flowered, elongating in fruit. Calyx 6-8 mm, including 3-5 mm teeth. Corolla creamy-white or yellow with red veins ; standard 13-16 mm; wings 4-5,5 mm; keel 13-16 mm. Fruit 16-17 x 13-15 mm, tomentose, crest subentire or with short teeth, disc with or without short hard curved spines. Fl. 4-6. Rocky slopes, often limestone, fallow fields, Quercus scrub, 300-1200 m.
