Perennial with procumbent or ascending stems, 20-60 cm. Leaves with 5-8 pairs of linear to linear-elliptic leaflets adpressed pilose above and below or sub-glabrous above; stipules connate, membranous, ciliate on margins. Peduncles 2-4 x longer than the leaves. Racemes ovate-oblong or oblong, few to many-flowered, elongating after anthesis. Calyx 4-6 mm, pilose to villous rarely ± glabrous, with teeth 1,5-3 x length of tube. Corolla pink with darker striations; standard 7-9 mm; wings 2-4 mm; keel 6-8 mm. Fruit 4-5 mm with short hard spines on the crest and the disc, and a short adpressed pilose indumentum. Fl. 5-8. Roadside, macchie, limestone hills in steppe, fallow fields, Cedrus-Pinus woods, sandy slopes, 200-2000 m.
