Sparingly pilose or subglabrous annual, 25-65 cm, ascending or climbing. Leaflets 1-3-paired, 10-60 x 3-20 mm, obovate or oblong to lanceolate or linear, obtuse or acute; stipules conspicuous, 5-15 mm, ovate-semi-sagittate, incised dentate; tendrils simple or branched. Peduncle 1-3-flowered, shorter than the flowers to almost as long as leaf. Flowers 16-20 mm, usually bicoloured. Calyx 9-11 mm, with a hardly oblique mouth; teeth subequal, narrow, longer than pilose tube. Standard purple; wings and keel usually whitish. Legume narrowly oblong, 25-40 x 7-11 mm, subrecurved, ± pubescent, margins ciliate. Seeds 2-6, hilum short. Fl. 3-6. Scrub,fallow and cultivated fields.
