Similar to C. speciosus but differing in having a very clearly defined yellow throat to the flower, densely pubescent yellow filaments and creamy-white anthers; perianth segments 1.8-4 x 0.8-1.5 cm. -2n = 12. Fl. 9-11. Grassy places, sparse Quercus and Pinus woods, 800-1500 m.
