Erect or ascending perennial. Stems 20-40 cm, spreading-villous. Leaves subadpressed-hirsute; near-basal ones oblong-oblanceolate, often ± crenate-dentate, grading into semi-amplexicaul cauline leaves above. Inflorescence longer than sterile part of stem. Floral leaves oblong to ovate-elliptic, 1-2 x flowers. Calyx 8-12 mm, villous, teeth ovate-oblong, c. as long as tube. Corolla yellow or cream, 20-30 mm, tube shorter than calyx, split above; lower lip cream, veined with purplish brown. Stamens long-exserted from corolla tube. Fl. 4-5. Abies forest, Quercus scrub, 20-600 m.
