Herb to 60 cm. Leaves ± densely stellate-lanate-tomentose, especially below, oblong-ovate, obtuse, cordate at base, crenate, 5-12 x 38 cm, petiole to 11 cm. Floral leaves cordate-triangular to lanceolate. Verticillasters 3-6, lower remote, 8-10-flowered. Bracteoles few, lanceolate, 1.5-2 mm, densely tomentose, Calyx 15-18 mm, densely stellate-tomentose with long, spreading hairs, teeth subequal, subulate, 4-6 mm. Corolla yellow, 30-35 mm. Nutlets glabrous. Fl. 5-8. Steppe, corn and fallow fields, 340-2200 m.
Iraq, Lebanon, Syria. Ir.-Tur. element. Near to P. polioxantha Rech. fil, from Iran and Iraq and P. olivieri Bentham from Iran.
