Close to S. tomentosa but differing in the clearly suffruticose habit; upper parts of stem with a finely pilose indumentum, subglabrous towards apex; smaller leaves , mostly clustered at base of flowering shoots; shorter and fewer-flowered inflorescences; smaller pedicels mm); and a calyx indumentum of very short capitate glandular hairs with or without few pilose eglandular hairs. Fl. 5-6. Pinus brutia woodland, rocky places, 250-600 m.
