Perennial herb with erect quadrangular stems, branched above, 20-60 cm, tomentose with sessile glands below, glandular tomentose above. Leaves simple, mostly in upper part of stems, oblong, narrowed above, 4-9.5 x 1-3.5 cm, tomentose with numerous sessile glands below, rugulose, serrulate; petiole 1.5-5.5 cm, Verticillasters 2-6-flowered, distant. Bracts ovate acuminate, upper c. 6 x 10 mm, lowermost leaf-like. Pedicels 1-2 mm, erecto-patent. Calyx ovoid-infundibular, c. 10 mm, to 14 mm in fruit, glandular tomentose; upper lip tridentate, mucronate. Corolla with lilac hood and yellow lip, 15-25 mm; tube short, abruptly ventricose above, squamulate; upper lip falcate. Stamens B. Nutlets trigonous, c. 2.5 x 2 mm. 2n = 22. Fl. 7-8. Limestone slopes, grassy meadows, 1300-2250 m.
