Perennial herb with erect stems much branched above, 30-100 cm, retrorsely scabridulous below and with sessile glands above. Leaves simple, ovate-oblong, cordate at base, 10-16 x 6-10 cm, glabrous and glandular-punctate below, sparsely pilose above, erose-dentate; petiole to 12 cm. Verticillasters 2-6-flowered, distant. Bracts ovate-acuminate, soon deciduous. 2-6 mm. Pedicels 2-5 mm, erecto-patent. Calyx ovate-campanulate, 8-10 mm, to c. 12 mm in fruit, with scabrid eglandular hairs and sessile glands; upper lip shortly tri-dentate, mucronate, recurved. Corolla white with pale yellow lip, c. 25 mm; tube short, abruptly ventricose, squamulate; upper lip falcate, villous at tip. Stamens B. Nutlets c. 2.5 x 2 mm, rounded trigonous, ovate-oblong. Fl. 6-8. Stony slopes, steppe, sandy loam, roadsides, cornfields, 1060-2340 m.
