Shrub to 1 m. Stems glabrous or adpressed-pubescent below, glabrous above, often galled. Leaves ovate, 5-8 x c. 3 cm, rugulose, densely adpressed-pubescent on lower surface, young leaves white-sericeous, finely crenulate to subentire; petiole c. 2.5 cm. Inflorescence paniculate, Verticillasters 4-6-flowered, approximating above. Bracts c. 15 x 12 mm, broadly ovate, deciduous. Pedicels 3-4 mm, erect. Calyx broadly campanulate, often purplish, c, 15 mm, shortly glandular-pilose; upper lip subentire, truncate; lips diverging in fruit, membranous. Corolla purplish-blue with paler lip, 25-35 mm; tube widening from base, densely annulate 6 mm from base; upper lip ± straight. Stamens A. Nutlets ± spherical, c. 3.5 x 3 mm. Fl. 4-6.
