Similar to S. rubicunda but usually larger in all its parts, differing by having bracts longer than calyx at anthesis, broadly ovate, long-petiolate , calyx accrescent to 13 mm in fruit, and corolla pale violet. Fl. 5-7. Mixed deciduous forest, limestone rocks, 540-1650 m.
