Perennial, 20-60 cm, simple or branched, densely puberulent or cobwebby-woolly and glabrescent, sparingly hirsute, with numerous short glands. Middle cauline leaves ovate or oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 4-9 x 1-3 cm, acutish or acute, rounded-cordate and semi-amplexicaul, often perfoliate at base, finely denticulate or entire, densely reticulate-nerved. Verticillasters 6-17, 6-15-flowered, 1-7 cm distant. Middle bracts yellowish, ovate to orbicular and cordate, 3 x 2 cm, acuminate or caudate, ciliate with eglandular hairs to 3 mm. Calyx 10-13 mm, teeth 2.5-5 mm, acute or mucronate, hirsute with eglandular hairs to 3 mm, tube with eglandular and glandular hairs. Corolla bright yellow, 13-15 mm, hairy and with brown striae inside. Fl. 5-9. Limestone rocks, Pinus forest, Quercetum, macchie, s.l.-2000 m.
