Strongly fruticose erect perennial. Flowering stems 75-100 cm, young branches densely tomentose. Leaves linear to linear-oblanceolate, strongly revolute-margined, green above, tomentose beneath, subacute. Inflorescence racemoid, often shortly branched below, 5-30 cm ± lax, floral leaves shorter than 1-3 axillary flowers. Peduncles present or absent, pedicels usually equal to or shorter than calyx. Calyx  campanulate, 6-7 mm, densely tomentose, divided to 1/3-2/5, teeth triangular, prominently 1-veined and muticous, Corolla mauve, 2 x calyx, lobes obtuse; stamens subequal to lip. Filaments shortly glandular-hairy. Fl. 5-9. Macchie and open rocky places , s.l.-300 m.
