Plants 6–19 cm tall, solitary or sometimes in groups of a few plants. Roots thin, sometimes enveloping the bulb, thickened roots absent. Bulb and basal bulbil together 4–5 mm × 5–8 mm in diameter, globose to ovoid; bulb, subtended by the basal leaf; basal bulbil, subtended by the second basal leaf, brown, reticulate, enclosed in common tunics, suprabasal bulbils present from immature to mature ontogeny, with a filiform neck up to 1–2 mm, pyriform, reticulate, black, located on the bulb tunics; tunics coriaceous, dark brown; neck up to 5 mm, splitting at the top. Peduncle erect; scarcely pubescent. Basal leaves 2, 10–35 cm × 0.5–1 mm, linear, becoming fistulose from immature, both basal leaves longer than the inflorescence, glabrous. Cauline leaves alternate, the lowest one 5–16 cm × 2–4.5 mm, narrowly linear, linear–lanceolate, canaliculate, enveloping the stem at the base, longer than the inflorescence, margins sparsely ciliate; other cauline leaves shorter, 1–7 cm × 1–5 mm, linear, linear–lanceolate, lanceolate, acute, ciliate at the margin. Inflorescence corymbose, 3–12-flowered; pedicels unequal, sometimes nodding in bud, longest pedicels 2–5.5 cm, as long as the flowers or up to 3–5 times longer, glabrous.
