Annual, biennial or short-lived perennial. Stems procumbent, ascending or erect, 15-50 cm, often branched from base. Leaves linear, 5-15 x 1-1,5 mm, acute, 1-nerved, thinnish. Sepals broadly elliptic-ovate, shortly acuminate, glossy, 5-6 mm, with a strong nerve extending to tip, lateral nerves weak. Petals blue, c. 1 cm. Stigmas clavate-filiform. Capsule fully dehiscent, 5-6 mm. Fl. 3-5. Grassy places, fixed dunes, ditches, rocky hillsides, by streams and ditches, s.l.-1900 m.
