Shrub 1-5 m. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 2-5 cm, coriaceous, glabrous, punctate-glandular, aromatic when crushed, entire; petiole c. 2 mm. Flowers up to 3 cm diam., white; pedicels 1,5-2,5 cm; petals orbicular, 7-15 min. Berry subglobose to broadly ellipsoid, 7-10 mm, usually bluish-black on ripening. Fl. 6-9. Rocky slopes, Pinus brutia forest, macchie, sand dunes, s.I.-550 m.
