Plants to 30 cm, with 3-4 oblong-lanceolate basal leaves and 2 ±amplexicaul. cauline leaves.. Spike short, 3-5-flowered. Bracts pale green, lanceolate, exceeding ovary. Flowers large. Sepals ± rose-violet, with green mid-vein, spreading, c. 16 x 5 rom, oblong-lanceolate. Petals 7-9 mm, lanceolate, with c. 3 mm broad base, rose-violet, glabrous or minutely pubescent. Labellum entire,flattish, without humps, ±orbicular or obovate, 13-15 x 13-15 mm, apex with minute point, velvety blackish-purple to dark brown; speculum silvery blue, with narrow whitish margins, basically H-shaped, with broad arms which are sometimes marginate and with or without 1-2 cross-lines. Column with 1-1.5 mm connective. Fl. 3-4. Meadows, macchie, c. 500 m.
