Plants normally more robust than P. bifolia. Stem ridged above; 2 basal leaves subopposite. Spike lax, many-flowered. Flowers greenish-white, less scented. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate-lanceolate, to 13 mm; dorsal sepal triangular-cordate, c. 8 x 8 mm, forming a shield over the column. Petals linear-lanceolate. Labellum slightly curved inwards, darker greenish 11-15 mm. Spur filiform, slightly inflated towards apex, to 40 mm. Column short, broad, viscid discs large, circular. Fl. 6-7. Deciduous and coniferous forest, grassland, mainly on forest margins, s.l.-2200 m.
