Much-branched shrub to 30 cm, with erect leafy twigs. Leaves alternate and in fascicles, oblanceolate to obovate, entire or 3-dentate, coriaceous. Capitula mostly terminal, 10-17 mm diam. Involucral bracts broadly ovate, obtuse or mucronate, margins densely ciliate. Calyx divided to c. 0.7, lobes equal, lanceolate. Corolla with minute bidentate upper lip and shallowly 3-lobed lower lip longer than tube. Fl. 2-4. Phrygana, macchie, nr s.l.
