Perennial, 6-30 cm, with usually a single rosette. Leaves 1.5-7 x 0.4-3 cm, usually petiolate and recurved, lamina ovate-lanceolate, broadly ovate or spathulate-ovate, entire, undulate or irregularly dentate, glabrous or with sparse septate hairs. Scapes 3.5-21 cm, glabrous or ± villous, striate. Spikes 1.5-3 cm x 4-6 mm. Bracts 1.5-2.5 mm, obtuse, ovate, glabrous. Sepals 2 mm, glabrous, keel not thickened, anterior ovate-obovate, posterior elliptic. Corolla lobes ovate or orbicular, obtuse. Stamens exserted; anthers yellow. Capsule ellipsoid or conical. Seeds 3-4. Fl. 5-9. Alpine meadows, springs, waysides, nr melting snow, 1000-2400 m.
