Perennial with woody caudex. Stems numerous, ± ascending. Lower leaves obovate-spathulate, upper linear-lanceolate. Inflorescences all terminal. Young inflorescences comose. Bracts clearly exceeding the pedicels. Upper sepal not gibbous. Inner sepals equalling the corolla, narrowly elliptic, substipitate, with anastomosing veins, red-purple. Capsule obcordate, shortly stipitate, 5-6 x 4-5 mm. Fl. 4.
