Perennial, 12-30 cm. Root tubers oblong-cylindrical, 1,5-2 cm. Stem adpressed-villose, divaricately 3-13-flowered. Radical leaves 3-pinnatisect, subsericeous, with oblong-lanceolate, often toothed laciniae 5-10 mm . Sepals adpressed, densely pilose. Petals'obovate, 8-12mm. Fruiting head oblong, 10-15 x 8-10 mm. Achenes obtusely obtriangular, glabrous, punctulate, 2-2,5 mm, with or without a short basal appendage, contracted into a spreading, ± straight, 1,5-2,5 mm beak. FI. 3-4. Rocky slopes, open scrub, fields and roadsides, nr. s.l.-1000 m.
