Erect shrub , branches alternate, young spines reddish brown. Leaf lamina elliptic-obovate, 15-25 x 8-12 mm, obtuse or rarely retuse, entire, pubescent on both sides, glaucous and obscurely reticulate-veined beneath; petiole 3-5 mm, pubescent. Fruiting pedicels 3-4 mm, few. Disc puberulent. Fruit c. 4 mm diam., groove of seed scarcely bifid. Fl. spring. Dry slopes, macchie, 30-1300 m.
