Differs from A. eupatoria in its thicker and very hairy stems, longer pedicels, 5-10 mm, longer petals, 5-7 mm, larger, cylindrical hypanthium, 10-12x 12-14 mm, with outer bristles always distinctly deflexed. Fl. 6-8. Marshy ground, by streams, 700-2130 m.
N. Iraq; formerly cultivated in Europe and occasionally naturalized there.
