Spinescent shrub to 2 m; young shoots white-tomentose, becoming ± glabrous. Leaves obovate, up to 1,5 x 0,8 cm, entire or slightly crenate, apex rounded to emarginate, densely white-tomentose beneath, green and glabrous above, except for pubescent midrib, subsessile. Flowers pinkish at first, becoming white, c. 30 mm diam. Drupes ovoid, subcompressed, up to 18 x 12 mm, pedicels c. 2 mm; stone with 1 or 2 grooves along both sides of the obtuse keel, otherwise smooth or partly and indistinctly reticulate-grooved. Fl. 1-3. Limestone rocks in phrygana, 10-500 m.
