Erect or ascending, softly hairy, perennial, 15-45 cm. Basal leaves lyrate, 10-20 cm; terminal leaflet 2-6 cm, cordate, serrate, lobed; laterals 3-5-paired, much smaller. Upper stem leaves often reduced to a single lobe. Inflorescence a lax, 3-10-flowered cyme. Calyx and epicalyx segments 8-15 mm. Corolla pale yellow, 8-10 mm diam., petals c. ½ length of calyx. Achenes 5-15, c. 15 mm, hirsute; style c. 10 mm, glabrous below, retrorse-setose towards apex. Carpophore 8-10 mm. Fl. 5-6. Shady limestone rocks in forest, often under Juniperus, 1030-2300 m.
