Procumbent perennial, rooting at base, with numerous lateral vegetative shoots. Stems 10-60 cm, with prostrate, flagelliform, quadrangular, shortly hispid to scabrid branches. Leaves of vegetative shoots and on lower portions of stems 3-10 x 0.6-1 mm, rather densely imbricate, upper to 16 x 1.7 mm, from 1/3 x to ± equalling internode length, linear-lanceolate to linear, with short, 0.2-0.4 mm hyaline apex, weakly revolute margins and keel-like prominent vein below, scabrid-hispid or margins scabrid only to glabrescent. Inflorescence branched, composed of ± corymbiform, condensed dichasial cymes. Bracts 1.5-3 x 0.8-1 mm, ovate-acuminate, sparsely hispid to glabrous with ciliate margins only. Corolla pale pink, 2.5-3.5 mm, broadly infundibular, with c. 1-1.5 mm, oblong, rather obtuse lobes. Ovary verrucose-hispid. Mericarps 2.5-3.5 mm, hispid, with whitish setae. Fl. 6-7. Sand dunes.
