Much branched semi-shrub, rarely nigrescent on drying. Stems 30-40 cm, lignescent and prostrate at base, with numerous branches; branches ascending to erect, subterete in their lower parts, ± quadrangular above, with short retrorse, scabrid-puberulent indumentum; lower internodes and those of branches ± abbreviated, upper c. 2-3 cm. Leaves in whorls of 6-8, spreading to reflexed, 6-1 0 x 0.5-1.4 mm, linear or linear-oblong, mucronate, with hyaline apex c. 0.1-0.3 mm, somewhat incurved, margins strongly revolute, antrorsely scabrid above, densely puberulent beneath. Inflorescence cylindrical to .elongate-pyramidal, ± densely puberulent, with suberect branches. Bracts quickly reduced, lanceolate to elliptic, acuminate, ± navicular, subscabrid along margins. Pedicels 1-3 mm, glabrescent to glabrous, divaricate. Corolla soft yellow, rotate, 2-2.5 mm diam., lobes ovate, shortly incurvedapiculate, glabrous outside. Mericarps subglobose, c. 1-1.25 mm diam., nigrescent, smooth and glabrous. Fl. 7. Dry, rocky slopes, often on marl, c. 1150-2500 m.
