Low caespitose perennial, with elongate, ± branched, filiform rhizome. Stems 8-20 cm, ascending, simple or branched in upper 1/2, weak, fragile, glabrous ; lower internodes congested, upper elongate to 6 cm, Leaves in whorls of 5-6, lowest oblanceolate to obovate, obtuse, 4-7 x 1-2.5 mm, median linear-oblong to narrowly elliptic or narrowly oblanceolate, subobtuse to acute, 10-15 x 1.5-2.5 mm, uppermost finely acuminate, all subpetiolate, with smooth or minutely papillose-denticulate margins, sometimes sparingly ciliolate . Inflorescence ± corymbiform, glabrous, peduncles to 40 mm, pedicels 1.2-3 mm; bracts ± reduced or absent. Corolla white, 4-5 mm diam., tube 0.4-0.5 mm, lobes ovate-acute, to 2 mm, glabrous outside. Anthers 0.5-0.6 mm, ellipsoid, yellowish. Ovary glabrous. Mericarps 1.7-2 mm diam., subglobose, ± single, rugulose, glabrous. Fl. 3. Open alpine habitats , c. 1500-2300 m.
