Plants elliptical or elongate, 2-2.5 em diam., pinnately branched with solitary roots. Branches mostly 2-pinriate. Leaves alternate, imbricate, bilobed; dorsal lobe 1.3-2 x 0.9-1.3 mm, fleshy, green or reddish, obtuse at apex, hyaline at margins, with a large cavity in basal part, papillate-hairy above; ventral lobe somewhat larger, submersed, 1 cell thick except middle part. Sporocarps formedfrom ventral lobes of lowest leaves of brunches, subglobose. Megaspores globose bearing thick cylindrical papillae. Microsporangial sori 1-1.5 mm long; each rnicrosporangium with 3-6 massulae; massulae with numerous rigid. linear, flattish, glochidiate trichomes; glochids not septate. Ponds, irrigation canals. lakes and muddy places at edges of waters.
