Annual or perennial glabrous herb. Stems 30-60 cm, erect, simple below, much-branched above. Leaves linear, 1-5 cm. Inflorescence a panicle of spikes. Bracts c. 1/2 as long as flower, bracteoles c. 3/4 as long as bracts. Flowers subsessile; perianth pale yellow, tubular, 8-8.25 mm, lobes 2.5 mm, linear-oblong. Fruit 10-12, 25 xc. 2 mm; nut ellipsoid, white-pubescent, c. 1/3 x as long as persistent perianth. Fl. 6. Sandy hills, c. 1410 m.
