Perennial. Flowering stems 20-40 cm, slender to ±stout, ascending to ± erect, leafy ± in the lower half. Leaf margins usually scabrid. Inflorescence simple or with 1-3 branches, lax. Bracts 5-12 mm, shortly deltoid to narrowly lanceolate, long-cuspidate or aristate. Fruiting pedicels 10-15 mm, ± erect to spreading, jointed below the middle, longer than bracts. Perianth segments 17-20 mm, yellow, outside of outer segments yellowish to pale orange. Capsule globose, 6-8 from, smooth. Fl. 4-6. Rocky or stony slopes, macchie, Pinus forest, clearings, s.l.-1300 m.
