Shrub or small tree, 4-10 m, foetid. Leaflets ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, 2-3-paired, 3-12 x 3-6 cm, serrate, sparsely hairy on the veins on the underside, otherwise glabrous; stipules absent or subulate, c. 4 mm. Inflorescence usually with 5 primary rays, flat-topped, 10-20 cm diam. Flowers cream, c. 5 mm; anthers cream. Drupe globose 6-8 mm, blackish-purple. Fl. 4-7. Amongst scrub, forest margins, etc., s.l.-1700 m.
