Annual, exceeding 1 m, long-branched, richly lepidote. Stems and branches with peeling epidermis. Median stem leaves up to 7 x 2,5 cm, elongate-deltoid, partly toothed. Inflorescence a long and loosely branched terminal panicle; individual female flowers present in the leaf axils. Bracteoles 7-10 x 6 mm, rhomboid-deltoid to elongate deltoid, often 3-lobed, entire or toothed, with or without nodular appendages. Fl. 5-7. Dry steppe, fields waste places, s.l.-1800 m.
