Subshrub up to 70 cm, single-stemmed or little branched, weakly hairy or hirsute-shaggy. Leaves 5-20 mm, linear-Ianceolate to linear-filiform. Inflorescence a slender pseudo-spike or weakly branched panicle. Flowers solitary or a few together in the axils of small bracts, with a ring of hairs at the base. Perianth segments ± densely hairy, ± united, with spreading, tongue-shaped rhomboid or rounded wings. Style thick. Stigmas thick and subulate. Fl. 6-8. Sandy, stony steppe soils in mountains, or on dry salty soils, s.l.-1900 m.
