Glabrous or weakly hairy annual or perennial, erect or prostrate, 1-many-stemmed. Leaves narrowly ovate or deltoid, long-petiolate, margins crinkled. Flowers solitary or in groups of 2-8, united in glomeruli in the axils of small, linear, or larger, elliptic-ovate bracts in paniculate, sometimes long-branched inflorescences. Perianth up to 3 mm, connivent above the fruit, the segments ± triangular or spathulate, entire, ± strongly keeled, narrowly membranous-margined. Fl. 5-8. On sand near the coast, scattered inland in waste places.
