Erect annual, 30-70 cm, farinose only when young. Leaves 4-9 x 4-6 cm, the lower triangular-ovate, truncate or cuneate at the base, usually dentate, the teeth often long and hooked. Inflorescence with crowded branches, glomeruli small and distant. Perianth segments not or scarcely keeled on the back, membranous nearly glabrous. Seed not completely enclosed by the perianth, with shallow grooves or punctate pits. FI. 6-8. Waste places, s.l.
