Richly branched annual, up to 2 m. Leaves subulate, 30 x 1 mm. Flower glomeruli 3-many-flowered. Perianth obovate, the segments somewhat cucullate . above. Seed vertical or horizontal, smooth . Stigmas 3, filiform-spathulate, densely papillose. Fl. 7-9. Sandy, salty stream banks, waste places, 900-1250 m.
