Bulb ovoid to subglobose, 1.5-3 cm diam.; outer tunics greyish, inner membranous, white. Stem 10-50 cm, erect, terete. Leaves 2-6, linear-lorate, 10-20 mm broad, flat, long-tapering above, often undulate. Spathe persistent, 2-lobed, finally reflexed; lopes ovate. Umbel hemispherical 2.5-5 cm diam., many-flowered. Pedicels 2-3 x perianth at anthesis. Perianth segments yellowish-white with pale green midvein, faintly pink, lilac-pink or reddish, oblong-elliptic, 6-7 mm, obtuse, ±erect, finally limp or slightly reflexed. Filaments purple, yellowish or white, 3/4 x perianth segments. Anthers pale yellow. Ovary green, blackish-green or purple; style c. as long as filaments. Capsule globose, 5-6 mm, slightly depressed. Fl. 4-5. Limestone hills and slopes, rocky places, fields, vineyards, 600-1870 m.
