Bulb globose or ovoid, 0.5-1.2 cm diam., outer tunics blackish, brownish or dark brown, coriaceous. Stem 8-45 cm, often flexuous, slender, glabrous. Leaves 2-3, filiform, c. 2 mm broad; lamina and sheaths glabrous. Valves of spathe unequal, linear-lanceolate, as long as or longer than umbel. Umbel 2-5 cm diam., lax, effuse. Pedicels unequal, 2-5 x as long as perianth, glabrous. Perianth ovoid-campanulate; segments pale green, greenish-yellow, greenish-brown or with a reddish or green midvein, later turning dirty lilac, elliptic, 4-5 mm, rounded at apex. Filaments whitish at base, with upper part purple or pale violet, much exserted. Capsule globose, 4 mm, depressed. Fl. 5-6. Pinus brutia macchie, Quercus coccifera scrub, steep hillsides, crevices of limestone rocks, 200-980 m.
