Bulb oblong, 2.5-6 x 1.2-1.5 cm diam.; outer tunics brown, densely fibrous-reticulate. Stem 15-50 cm, finely ribbed, almost glabrous or papillose-scabrid. Leaves 4-6, linear, flat, 2-5 mm broad, glabrous or scabrid on margin, glaucous. Spathe 2-valved, persistent; valves c. 13 mm, shortly acuminate. Umbel hemispherical or more often spherical, 3-4.5 cm diam., many-flowered, rather lax, brittle. Pedicels 1.5-2.5 cm, thin, equal, drying blackish. Perianth broadly campanulate; segments bright yellow with green midvein, drying whitish, elliptic, 4-5 mm, obtuse. Stamens as long as perianth or somewhat shorter; inner filaments twice as broad as outer. Capsule depressed-globose, c. 5 mm, brown, shorter than persistent perianth. Fl. 6. Eroded shaley hillsides, 1850-1900 m.
